A few important things to know.
Does the turf get hot?
Yes, direct sunlight in temperatures above 80 degrees will get the artificial turf hot. However, with the right sand dressing and a light mist from a hose will cool it instantly.
It is low maintenance not no maintenance.
Don't be fooled by set it and forget it installers. There is minimal maintenance required for artificial turf. Picking up leaves or loose objects regularly will help the artificial turf appearance or aesthetic look. Also, with the right amount of sand dressing you will keep your turf looking like the day it was installed.
How well does the turf drain from rain or water?
Artificial turf drains faster and more efficiently than real grass. The turf is designed with a highly perforated and permeable backing that allow the water to drain at a rate of 28 inches per hour or per square yard.
Is artificial turf tough and durable?
Within the last few years artificial turf has made its way into both college and professional sports fields. Having cleats dig into it play after play proves that artificial turf is a durable solution.
Will my HOA allow it?
You will have to check with your Homeowners Association. Most HOA's do allow artificial turf in their community with the right applications and sometimes permit is required.
Does the turf fade?
